Being one of the most important topics of KAS Paper I, Indian history needs more intense reading and preparation. There is 10 question from Indian History. India’s Ancient Past- R. S. Sharma

It is one of the most suggest books on India’s ancient history. It comprehensively covers India’s history from neolithic and chalcolithic times to the times of Harshavardhana. Reading this will assure good marks in both prelims and mains exam 

History of Medieval India- Satish Chandra

This book holistically covers the history of the period of 1000 years. It gives us a clear picture of the empires that governed different parts of the country from the eighth to the eighteenth century. It is one of the suggested books not only for the KAS exam but also for UPSC exams. 

India’s Struggle For Independence- Bipan Chandra

This book will give a clear cut picture of the Indian Independence movement.  It has a detailed overview of the Indian independence movement and the impacts of this movement on the people. 

History of Modern India- Bipan Chandra

This book maps the path of colonial India from the eighteenth century to the twentieth century. It also gives us a detailed overview of the factors that allowed British rulers to rule over India.
