This also means that a large number of candidates also fail to qualify the IBPS Exams.

There are many reasons as to why such a large number of candidates fail to clear the exam, the main reason among them being the increasing number of candidates appearing for the exams which in turn leads to the higher rate of failure.

Through this article we will go through some of these reasons which cause the candidates to fail in the IBPS Bank exams.

Reasons that lead to failure in the IBPS Bank exam

There can be many reasons as to why candidates fail to clear the IBPS Bank PO, some of these reasons are as follows:

1. Not being aware of the exam pattern and syllabus

Knowing the exam pattern and syllabus thoroughly is the first step towards a successful preparation of the IBPS bank exam which further increases your chances of clearing the exam in the first attempt. However, if you are not aware of the exam pattern and syllabus it will affect your preparation and not knowing what to study will leave you unprepared and confused which will affect your results.

2. Not being aware of the cutoffs

Cutoffs are the minimum marks you need to clear the exam. When you are aware of the cutoffs for the IBPS Bank exam, you can set a target score which you need to achieve. This would probably help in your preparation and may potentially help you to succeed in the exam.

3. Marking wrong answers

There is negative marking for each wrong answer, so if you guess randomly and mark the wrong answer it will affect your final score. Therefore, you need to make sure that you only attempt the questions that you are sure about.

4. Not focusing on the basics

Some candidates tend to focus on the harder topics and forget to make the basic concepts clear in the process. This may highly affect your final score in the exam as most questions are based on the basic concepts and if your basics are clear you can apply them to solve the harder questions.

5. Focusing on the difficult questions first

It is often seen that candidates spend too much time focusing on the difficult questions which leaves them with very less time to attempt the other questions. This is a wrong strategy as you may lose a lot of marks if you don’t attempt the questions that you are confident about. So, the better option is to attempt the easier questions first and leave the harder ones for later.

The above are a few reasons that may cause the candidates to fail in the IBPS bank exams. If you focus on these reasons and try to avoid these mistakes, it may increase your chances of clearing the IBPS Bank exams.
