The Bank PO examination is carried in three phases—preliminary exam, mains exam and the personal interview. The first two rounds are the common written examination rounds which have a vast syllabus that the candidates need to prepare in order to clear the bank PO exam. Both these rounds have sectional cut-offs, after meeting which, the candidates become eligible for the personal interview.

In order to meet these sectional cut-offs, the candidates need to thoroughly study for all the subjects included in the syllabus. Here, in this article we will have a look at all the important subjects that you need to study in order to clear the bank PO exams.

Important Subjects to Study for Clearing the Bank PO Exams

Following are the subjects which you need to study in order to clear the common written examination phase of the bank PO exam:

1. General Knowledge and Awareness

The general knowledge or general awareness section of the Bank PO examination tests the candidate’s knowledge of current and day to day affairs of the world. In this section, you may come across questions regarding different fields like business, politics, sports, education, banking terms, history of banking, etc.

While studying for this section, the candidates need to make sure to keep themselves updated with the latest news and current affairs. This is considered the most scoring section of the bank PO exams and is also less time consuming if you have the required knowledge to answer the questions asked.

2. Reasoning Ability

The reasoning ability section of the bank PO examination is considered to be a more tricky and time consuming section. Thus, this section requires proper preparation. The questions involved in the reasoning ability section are mostly quizzes, puzzles, questions related to logical reasoning, seating arrangements, blood relations, direction tests, etc.

To prepare for this section, the candidates need to practice solving mock tests and previous question papers. While solving this section the candidate is required to stay calm and read each question carefully before answering. If done right, the reasoning ability section is also a scoring section of the Bank PO exam.
