SSC Eligibility – Age Limit, Qualification and Reservation for all SSC Exams!

The Staff Selection Commission or SSC conducts various SSC exams every year for recruiting candidates for various posts in the government sector. These exams have a set eligibility criteria which is decided by the Staff Selection Commission. These criteria may sometimes differ based on the type of SSC exam the candidate is applying for.

The common eligibility criteria considered for recruiting candidates through the SSC exam includes age limit, qualification and nationality. The candidates are recruited in various departments, ministries and government organisations only after they meet the required eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria for Different SSC Examinations

The SSC conducts various exams like SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC GD, SSC JE, SSC CPO, SSC MTS and SSC Stenographer. Here, we will have a look at the eligibility criteria and reservations for all these SSC examinations.

1. Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL

The eligibility criteria for SSC CGL is as follows:

Age Limit: the minimum age required for the candidates to apply for SSC CGL is 18 years, and the maximum age is 32 years.

Qualification: the candidates appearing for this exam must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Having additional qualifications like a Master’s degree will be considered as a plus point.

2. Eligibility Criteria for SSC CHSL

The eligibility criteria for SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level examination is as follows:

Age Limit: The age limit for SSC CHSL exam is 18-27 years of age.

Qualification: the candidates applying for the post of SA/PA, LDC/JSA need to have a 12th pass certificate from a recognised university. Whereas, candidates applying for the post of data entry operator need to have a 12th pass certificate from science stream with mathematics as a subject.

3. Eligibility Criteria for SSC GD

The eligibility criteria for SSC General Duty Examination is as follows:

Age Limit: The age limit for SSC GD exam is 18-23 years of age.

Qualification: the candidates appearing for this exam need to be 10th pass from a recognised educational board.

4. Eligibility Criteria for SSC JE

The eligibility criteria for SSC Junior Engineer (JE) is as follows:

Age Limit: The age limit for SSC junior engineers differs according to their posts, but the average age limit is from 18 to 32 years of age.

Qualification: the educational qualifications for junior engineers also differ based on their post and department of expertise. But all the candidates should have a degree or diploma from a recognised university in whichever field they expertise in, for example, mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.

5. Eligibility Criteria for SSC CPO

The eligibility criteria for SSC CPO is as follows:

Age Limit: The age limit for SSC CPO exam is 20-25 years.
