SSC exams are the most sought after by the candidates that aspire for government jobs, which makes the competition level for these exams very intense. There are a lot of books and study material available for SSC exams. But choosing the right material is very important because if you study with the wrong books, no matter how hard you work you may still fail in clearing the exam.

The main three SSC exams conducted are SSC CGL, SSC JE and SSC CHSL. The preparation material for all these exams is different and there are different books recommended for all these exams.

Study Material for SSC Exams

Preparation Material for SSC CGL

SSC CGL or SSC Combined Graduate Level exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission and is conducted in four phases— Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, Tier IV. The sections included in each tier are quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, statistics, economics and finance, English language and general awareness.

The most recommended books for these sections in the SSC CGL exam are verbal and non-verbal reasoning by R.S. Agarwal, SSC Mathematics by Rakesh Yadav, General Knowledge by Dr. Binay Karna, SSC CGL statistic by J.K. Chopra, SSC economics by Arun Arora, and objective general learning by S.P. Bakshi.

Preparation Material for SSC JE

SSC JE or SSC Junior Engineer exam has 2 papers— Paper I and Paper II. The topics involved in these papers are general intelligence, general awareness, civil and structural engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

The most recommended books for these topics are verbal and non-verbal reasoning by R.S. Agarwal, general knowledge by Manohar Pandey, SSC JE Civil and Structural recruitment exam guide by Disha Experts.

Preparation Material for SSC CHSL

English language, general awareness, general intelligence and quantitative aptitude are the sections included in the SSC CHSL or SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level exam. The recommended books for this are objective general English by S.P. Bakshi, analytical reasoning by M.K. Pandey, quantitative aptitude by R.S. Agarwal.
