KTET 2020-21 Answer Key, Result, Exam Date, Syllabus & Eligibility

What is KTET?  

The Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) is conducted twice a year by the Office of the Commissioner for Government Examinations to select candidates with the necessary skills to teach in Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School classes in Kerala. Kerala’s Pareeksha Bhavan is in charge of organising the K-TET exam. The State Council of Educational Training (SCERT) of Kerala and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)/Department of General Education/Government of Kerala set the guidelines for the KTET exam.
 

KTET Result 2020-21

Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan has announced the KTET December 2020 result on its official website. Candidates who took the KTET exam between 9th January and 17th January 2021 can check their results by following the steps below:
 

  • Visit the official K-TET website (https://ktet.kerala.gov.in
  • Select ‘KTET December 2020 Result’ from the drop-down menu
  • Fill in your registration number, category, and date of birth
  • Select ‘Check Result’
  • Check the KTET 2020-21 results
  • Print the results for future reference

KTET Eligibility Criteria 

To teach students in Category I, category II, category III and category IV classes, candidates need to possess the minimum educational qualifications. Let’s discuss the qualifications in detail. 
 

K-TET 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Category I (Lower Primary Classes)

Candidates who hold any of the following educational qualifications can appear for the KTET 2020:
 
Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and a two-year Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [under any name known] conducted by the Kerala Board of Examinations or its equivalent.
 
Or, higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any name) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002.
 
Or, a minimum of 50% in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).
 
Or, higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and a 2-year education diploma (Special Education).
 
Please note that the candidates from the SC/ST and differently-abled categories are eligible for a 5 per cent relaxation in qualified marks. OBC and OEC candidates are given a 3 per cent relaxation in qualified marks.
 

K-TET 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Category II (Upper Primary Classes)

Candidates who hold any of the following educational qualifications can appear for the KTET 2020:
 
B.A/B.Sc/B.Com and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by Kerala Board of Examinations or its equivalent.
 
Or, BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and 1 year Bachelor in College (BEd) in accordance with NCTE. 
 
Or, a minimum of 50 per cent in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
 
Or, higher secondary/ Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50 per cent and a 4-year BA/B.Sc.Ed or BA Ed or B.Sc.Ed.
 
Please note that the candidates from the SC/ST and differently-abled categories are eligible for a 5 per cent relaxation in qualified marks. OBC and OEC candidates are given a 3 per cent relaxation in qualified marks.
 

KTET 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Category III (High School Classes)

Candidates can apply for KTET 2020 if they have any of the below mentioned educational qualifications: 
 

  • A B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject and a B.A/B.Sc/B.Com with at least 45 per cent marks are required (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or any other equivalent universities).
  • B.A or equivalent with a minimum of 45 per cent marks and who passed in LTTC are qualified to apply.
  • Candidates with an M.Sc degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50 per cent marks from any Regional Institute of Education funded by NCERT can apply for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. 
  • Candidates with an M.Sc Degree in Life Science from any Regional Institute of Education and a minimum of 50 per cent in Botany and Zoology are eligible to apply.

 
Here are some additionals requirements for candidates to be eligible for KTET 2020. 

  • Candidates who have obtained a teaching diploma or degree in any subject and have been accepted by Universities/NCTE/Board of Examinations/Govt. of Kerala are qualified to apply for K-TET III. They must present an equivalency certificate issued by either of Kerala’s universities or the Kerala government.
  • Candidates who have degrees from recognised correspondence courses or open universities should obtain and submit certificates of recognition and equivalency from any of Kerala’s universities.
  • The marks of the mains and subsidiary papers will be considered for calculating the minimum educational qualification.

 
Please note that the candidates from the SC/ST and differently-abled categories are eligible for a 5 per cent relaxation in qualified marks. OBC and OEC candidates are given a 3 per cent relaxation in qualified marks.
 

KTET 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Category IV

Candidates who meet the requirements for the posts of language teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, and Urdu (to Upper Primary level), Specialist Teachers, and Physical Education Teachers as specified in Chapter XXXI of the KERALA EDUCATION ACT AND RULES are qualified to apply for KTET Category IV.
 

KTET Selection Process

Here’s the complete selection process for KTET 2020. 
 

Fill the application form

Candidates have to fill out the KTET 2020 application form online at Pareeksha Bhavan’s official website. They must submit the receipt of online payment or Challan and a copy of Pareeksha Bhavan certificates with their application form.  Candidates should choose their test centre’s district while filling out the KTET exam application form.
 
Candidates can pay the KTET 2020 examination fee using a credit card, debit card, or net banking or by submitting a challan in cash to any State Bank of Travancore branch in favour of the Director SCERT, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram.
 

Download the admit card

Candidates must download their KTET 2020 admit card from the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan’s official website. Candidates will not receive their admit card by post. The candidate’s name and test centre details will be written on the KTET admit card.
 

Appear for the exam

All the KTET exams I, II, III, and IV last for two and a half hours. Candidates must arrive at their K-TET examination centre at least 30 minutes before the exam starts.  Candidates have to take the KTET exam on an OMR sheet. 
 

Check the KTET results 

The KTET 2020 result has been released on Pareeksha Bhavan’s official website. Candidates who make the K-TET exam merit list must present their original documents to the District Educational Officer, who issues K-TET certificates for verification.
