The Kerala SET or State Entrance Test exam is an exam conducted by the state government of Kerala to evaluate and recruit teachers for higher secondary schools in the state. Every year many aspiring candidates apply for this exam and the exam is usually conducted in the month of March every year.

What is the complete eligibility criteria for the Kerala SET 2021 Exam?

The most important step before applying for the Kerala SET exam is to know about the eligibility criteria of the exam which is declared by the LBS center for Science and technology along with the official notice of the exam. This eligibility criteria is decided by the state government and includes some important points like age limit, educational qualifications and relaxations. One of the most important points in this criteria is the nationality of the candidate; only the candidates having Indian nationality can apply for the Kerala SET examination.

While applying for the exam, the candidates are expected to provide all the necessary details about themselves which are verified and if the candidate does not fulfill the said eligibility criteria, he/she is disqualified and their application is considered invalid.

Age limit

As per the guidelines given by the state government of Kerala, there is no upper age limit to appear for the Kerala SET examination. Any candidate with Indian nationality and above the age of 18 years can apply for the exam.

Relaxation

The State Government of Kerala offers a certain relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates. Aspirants from the SC/ST category who want to apply for the Kerala SET exam are granted a 5% marks relaxation in the minimum marks which they need to possess in their qualifying exam that makes them eligible to appear for the Kerala SET exam.

Educational Qualification

The education qualification criteria that the candidates need to fulfill is as follows:

• The candidate must have a master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.
• The candidate needs to have a Bachelor’s education Degree (B.Ed) from any universities of Kerala or any other recognised universities which are considered to be equivalent.
• For subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, students need to acquire a M.Sc.Ed degree from NCERT recognised institute with a minimum of 50% marks.
• For other subjects like Commerce, Philosophy, French, Home science, Geology, Psychology, Social work, etc. the students need to compulsorily acquire a B.Ed degree.
• Candidates who have acquired a master’s degree in communicative English with a minimum of 50% marks can appear for the SET exam in English.
• Candidates who have acquired a correspondence degree from a school, college or university which is not recognised by the Kerala state government are not eligible to appear for the Kerala SET exam.
• Candidates who are in their final year of B.Ed and have their master’s degree are also eligible to apply for the Kerala SET exam.
• Candidates who have passed their B.Ed and are still in their final year of Master’s degree are also eligible to apply for the Kerala SET exam.
