There are three papers in the KAS Mains descriptive exams. They are:

Those candidates who cleared the KAS Prelims Examination is admitted to the KAS Mains Examination. Mark obtained in KAS Prelims Examination is only qualifying, it will not be taken into account. Marks obtained in the Mains as well as Interview for the preparation of the final rank list. Therefore, it is important to attend KAS Mains descriptive seriously. This article will thoroughly go through the previous KAS descriptive Exam conducted by Kerala PSC.
The total number of questions in the Kerala Administrative Service Mains Examinations are 26 and 28. There are 26 questions in Paper I and Paper III. The number of questions in Paper II is 28. The total mark for these exams is 100. In KAS Mains Descriptive examination, questions are provided in English, candidates can answer either in English or in Malayalam.
In KAS Paper I Mains Descriptive Examination, there are 26 questions. The Total mark of this Examination is 100. There are 15 questions of 3 marks and 10 questions of 5 marks. The distribution of mark distribution of Paper III is also same as that of Paper I. The total number of questions of Paper II is 28 and total mark is 100. There and 20 questions with 3 marks and 8 questions with 5 marks are in KAS Paper III.
