Banks have seen computer awareness as an essential skill, and it is thus used in nearly all of their bank exams. Any candidate seeking to obtain a bank job needs to incorporate basic computer knowledge into their bank exam training.

Computer Virus

A computer virus is a malicious piece of code or programme that affects a computer’s normal functioning. By hijacking the system’s memory, surreptitiously gathering data or locking down the system entirely, viruses interrupt the system.

Antivirus software

Antivirus software is an application that defends computers from computer viruses, such as malware, trojans and viruses in the network. Several prominent software companies specialise in antivirus software. Any of the biggest software vendors that develop and sell antivirus software are McAfee, Norton, Eset and Kaspersky Labs.


Malware is a type of virus. It is classified as malicious software that corrupts mobile and computer operations and provides unauthorised access to a private system, or shows harmful content. Without the user’s notice, the single device’s information is copied that disrupts the normal activity. Using malware-specific or antivirus software helps prevent malware. Via reckless use of browser extensions, email attachments and storage media, malware spreads in the system. 

Computer worm

A computer worm is a standalone virus that spreads through networks of computers. It is a self-replicating software that infects computers linked to a network while staying active in the original system. It is one of the most common viruses. 

Trojan horse

A Trojan horse is a malicious programme that infects a system masquerading as an innocuous programme. This connects the virus to a computer. They are not self-replicating but are very damaging.


Authorization is the function of defining data security or computer security dependent access rights. In organisations, either a designated user or a community of users known as system administrators can control authorisation. Authorization is an essential part of data protection and seeks to protect company information’s security and confidentiality.


When the credentials are compared with those of the original file database, it is called authentication. Authentication may be used to check that authorisation is legitimate or that a database is secure, etc. It allows the device to enable legal users access.


A hacker is an individual who has full knowledge of a particular information security field and uses it to obtain access to the systems. Hackers may be classified as hackers with a black hat and a white hat. White hat hackers use their skills to uncover bugs in computer security practises and suggest more reliable alternatives to security issues. Black hat hackers exploit their expertise for monetary or other gains to harm users.


Phishing is often referred to as the process of sending false emails or attempting to get personal information such as name, password or money. By posing as a genuine user of a device and gathering data via electronic correspondence, phishing is conducted. 

Spoofing attack

If an individual or software impersonates another’s identity by falsifying significant details,  to gain an unfair and illegitimate advantage is called spoofing. Different spoofing attacks can be used for various purposes by the fraudulent party.
From the examination point of view, all the words mentioned above are very relevant. Candidates must carefully examine these computer awareness terms and study each of them in-depth as questions based on the same can be asked in the upcoming government examinations.
Computer awareness is a large, rapidly evolving field of knowledge. Bank exams, however, are limited to areas such as operating systems and computer security.
