Tips for IBPS PO interview
Now that you have studied hard and cleared both the preliminary and mains exams for the Probationary Officer or PO post and your hard work has paid off as you are being called for the personal interview, you must make sure that you give your absolute best in the personal interview as well.
So to help you clear the personal interview successfully, here are a few tips that you should follow:
- First you should know what the interview process is about. The interview is conducted by four or five bankers and a psychologist. There is no set time for the interview but it usually lasts for about 20 minutes. The questions are based on both educational and general knowledge.
- There are certain areas that the panel members may focus on more like your qualifications, your knowledge about banking, your general awareness, your behaviour, mindset and temperament.
- Once you enter the room, make sure that your body language is good and professional and keep your eye contact with the interviewer. Have a firm handshake but don’t make it too tight.
- The way you dress also leaves an impression on your interviewers, so make sure to wear professional attire.
- Ask questions to the interviewers but don’t be rude or unprofessional in your speech.
- Even though it’s an interaction and not a written exam, make sure that you hear the questions patiently and answer calmly. Don’t be over enthusiastic and avoid interrupting the interviewer.
- If you are asked a question that you are not sure about, make sure you let the interviewers know and even though you don’t know the correct answer and are still asked to share your views, answer with your best knowledge.
- Do not jump to any conclusions.
- Make sure you carry all the documents with you that are supposed to be carried for the interview.
- Don’t be too late or too early for the interview.
If you follow the above tips on your personal interview day, you will have a good chance to successfully complete the interview and secure the job for yourself.
