What is the CSIR NET?

The CSIR UGC NET (commonly referred to as CSIR NET) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).Ā 
 
The exam’s main aim is to select candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards and determine their appointment qualifications as lecturers in Indian universities and colleges.Ā 
 
Candidates who pass the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) NET exam are only qualified to teach science and technology.

CSIR NET Notification 2021

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will shortly release the CSIR NET 2021 notification on its official website. The notification would provide relevant exam information such as the application process, exam dates, eligibility criteria, admit card, exam pattern, syllabus, etc. The CSIR-UGC NET exam is conducted to decide whether a candidate is qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or a Lectureship/Assistant Professor position.
 

CSIR NET Application Process 2021

After the notification is issued, the CSIR NET application form 2021 link becomes active. On the official website, https://csirnet.nta.nic.in, the online application process is conducted. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements may apply online for the exam. Candidates must pay a fee to complete the application process. The CSIR NET application fee is Rs 1,000 for the general category, Rs 500 for the OBC category, and Rs 250 for SC/ST category. Candidates in the PwD category are exempt from the application fees.
 

CSIR NET Eligibility 2021

Candidates should meet the following requirements for the CSIR UGC NET exam:
 

  • Candidates must have a BTech/BE/BPharma/MBBS/BS (4 years)/Integrated BS-MS/MSc degree with a minimum of 55% marks
  • Candidates must be at least 28 years old as of 1st December 2019 to apply for JRF
  • There is no upper age limit for applying for a lectureship position

CSIR UGC NET Selection Process 2021

Here’s the complete selection process of the CSIR UGC NET 2021 exam:
 

  1. Fill the application form – All interested and eligible candidates must fill out the CSIR NET 2021 application form on the exam’s official website.
  2. Release of admit card – Candidates who complete the application form and pay the exam fee will get their CSIR UGC NET admit card. The admit card is available on the exam’s official website.
  3. Appear for the exam – Following that, candidates must appear for the CSIR UGC NET exam on the date and time specified on their admit card. The CSIR NET is held twice a year, in June and December.
  4. Declaration of results – The CSIR NET result is available on the official website. Candidates who pass the NET exam are then qualified for JRF or lectureship positions.

 

CSIR NET 2021 Exam Day Guidelines

Here are the important guidelines that a candidate should keep in mind on the exam day:
 

  1. Documents to carry – Candidates must the following documents to the exam centre:
    • Printout of your CSIR NET admit card
    • One passport-sized photo (required to be pasted on the attendance sheet inside the exam hall)
    • A valid government photo ID (passport/ PAN card/ driving license/ Aadhaar card (with photograph)/ voter ID card/ Aadhaar enrolment number/ ration card) is required.
    • Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), if necessary

     

  2. Documents not to carry – The following items/things are prohibited from the exam:

    • Any printed or written textual or sample content, docu pen, slide rules, and log tables
    • Handbags
    • Any electronic device, such as a calculator, an electronic watch, mobile, Bluetooth devices, and so on
    • Foods or beverages such as tea, coffee, or a cold beverage (Note: Diabetic candidates are permitted to bring eatables such as sugar tablets, fruit, and a transparent water bottle.)

     

  4. Report to the exam centre at least two hours before the start of the exam.

  6. Do not leave the exam room until the duration of the paper has finished.
  7.  

  8. Pay close attention to the instructions on the admit card.
  9.  

  10. Smoking, eating, and other similar activities are not allowed in the exam hall.
  11.  

  12. Ensure the CSIR NET question paper on the computer corresponds to the NET subject listed on the admit card.
  13.  

  14. At the exam centre, do not engage in any unethical conduct.
  15.  

  16. For any technical assistance or other material, contact the centre superintendent/invigilator.
  17.  

  18. Remember to bring your CSIR NET admit card or any other required documents to the exam centre.
