CDS: Know the Exam Pattern

CDS exam is conducted by UPSC each year. This is a huge opportunity for those who are willing to join Indian Defense Service at good posts. A large number of applications will be there and the vacancies are limited, so aspirants need to prepare well in order to achieve the job. The first step is to know the exam pattern well. 

Exam Phases

The CDS 2022 exam consist of two phases:

Phase I is a Written Examination

Phase II is the SSB Interview

Written Test

The written test for Indian Naval Academy, Indian Military Academy and Air Force Academy consists of three sections such as English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics.

The written paper for Officers Training Academy has English and General Knowledge sections. 

Mode of Exam

Written Tests are connected to Offline modes. Each candidate has to mark their answer in the OMR sheet allocated. 

Type of Questions

The questions are Multichoice Objective Type. In each question, there were four options. A candidate can choose the most appropriate response.

Medium of Exam

The questions are available in Bilingual. That is questions are there in Hindi as well as in English. 

Total Marks

There are 100 marks in each section, The total mark for IMA, INA  and AFA is 300 since there are three sections. Since OTA consists of only 2 sections, the maximum mark is 200.

Time duration

In the CDS Exams, the total time duration for each section is 2 hours.

Negative Marking

In the CDS exam, each question in the Written Exam carries 1 mark. There will be a negative marking of 1/3 for every wrong answer.
